Autism Society of North Carolina receives Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc. grant

Camp Royall scholarship for Cumberland County child with autism

August 22, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Raleigh, N.C. ā€“ The Autism Society of North Carolina (ASNC) recently received a $1,800 Summertime Kids grant from the Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc. The grant provided scholarship support for a Cumberland County child with autism to attend ASNCā€™s Camp Royall this summer.

Located in Moncure, North Carolina, Camp Royall provides traditional overnight summer camp experiences for individuals with autism, as well as year-round programming for children and adults on the autism spectrum. Activities and programs are designed to support the growth and development of campers by providing a safe and accepting environment where campers can have new experiences, develop friendships, strengthen social skills, and grow in confidence and independence.

Every summer since 1992, the Cumberland Community Foundationā€™s Summertime Kids grant program has helped more than 1,000 youth have life-changing summer experiences. Many of these youth are from low-income families and underserved communities. All donations benefit recreational, enrichment, and mentoring activities for youth in summer camps that are offered by local nonprofit organizations like the Autism Society of North Carolina, neighborhood groups, and other community groups. Through Camp Royall, the Autism Society of North Carolina has provided camping experiences for thousands of children with autism from across the state.
