Health care coverage for children where they can get specialized health and developmental services (Medicaid TEFRA waiver/Katie Beckett waiver) – Many states have adopted TEFRA waivers for Medicaid, sometimes called Katie Beckett waivers, which give children with significant disabilities access to Medicaid health care coverage, regardless of the familyās income level. Traditional employer-based health care and health marketplace plans do not cover habilitative services or specialized developmental services which are covered under Medicaid. A TEFRA waiver would allow children with disabilities access to specialized health care in Medicaid, based only on *their* income and exclude other family income. Ā Usually, a childās income is either zero or within Medicaid income limits.
