Frequently Asked Questions

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) teaches skills that help individuals build happy, safe lives. Our ABA program prioritizes the values and goals of each individual to ensure that the skills taught are appropriate. By using ABA, many individuals are able to improve communication, decrease unsafe behavior, and become more independent at home, school, work, and in the community.

Autism Society of North Carolina (ASNC) ABA is an in-network provider for many insurers, such as BC/BSNC, Aetna, and United Healthcare. ASNC is an in-network provider with all Tailored Plans (LME/MCOs) that manage behavioral health needs in NC. Medicaid funds ABA for children and adults (with no age cap). We also provide treatment through private-pay arrangements. Questions? Contact us and we’ll help.

Your ASNC ABA team will include Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) who conduct assessments, design treatment plans, and supervise Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). Our BCBAs have low caseloads so they can focus on spending time with families. RBTs provide direct instruction in the home and community on a consistent basis based on the plan. BCBAs and RBTs are supported by our clinical leadership team. Additionally, our BCBAs collaborate regularly to ensure the best treatment plan for every individual.

Most importantly, we consider family members and caregivers an essential part of the team. We work with individuals and families in developing and implementing the plan and provide training and coaching to help you encourage progress. We will also consult with team members at schools, occupational and speech-language therapists, medical professionals, and more.

ABA is good teaching, and good teaching happens when a person is relaxed and content. For many learners, the home provides a good place to practice daily living skills and learn through play. We come to you so that your loved one isn’t stressed by a new environment or travel.

Every person is different, so after conducting an assessment and observations, our team will make a recommendation on the frequency and length of services in a week. We want our clients to be content and enjoy learning, so we are sensitive to age and level of engagement while ensuring that teaching is done regularly and consistently.
