We identify and prioritize your loved one’s learning style, interests, and goals.
Our process always involves the client and the caregiver, and your team includes an experienced group of professionals who work together.
We believe learning should be enjoyable, and many of our techniques use play.
Our clinic space is designed to help your loved one learn in an environment that will be similar to what they experience in daycare, preschool and academic settings. They will be able to practice and master skills while making new connections.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) teaches skills that help individuals build happy, safe lives. Our ABA program prioritizes the values and goals of each individual to ensure that the skills taught are age and developmentally appropriate. By using ABA, many individuals are able to improve communication, decrease unsafe behavior, and become more independent.
ASNC’s ABA services are an in-network provider for many insurers, such as Aetna, BCBSNC, Cigna, and United Healthcare. ASNC is an accredited provider of Medicaid services and in-network provider with all LME/MCOs managing behavioral health needs in North Carolina. Clinic staff will assist with submitting therapy information to all major insurance carriers. The clinic also offers private-pay solutions.
Your ABA team will include Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) who conduct assessments, design treatment plans, and supervise Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). Our BCBAs have low caseloads so they can focus on spending time with their clients and their families. RBTs provide direct instruction in the clinic on a consistent basis based on the plan. The BCBAs and RBTs who work with your loved one are supported by our in-house clinical leadership team.
Importantly, we consider family members and caregivers an essential part of the team. We will work with you to develop and implement the plan and provide training and coaching to help you encourage progress outside of the clinic. We will also consult with team members such as occupational and speech-language therapists, medical professionals, and others.
ABA is good teaching, and good teaching happens when a person can become familiar with their setting and is relaxed and content. For many learners, a clinic provides a good place to practice skills that will be needed in educational settings and learn through play. We maintain a predictable schedule to help your loved one build skills needed for their future success.
Every child is different, so after conducting an assessment and observations, our team will recommend the frequency and length of services in a week. The ABA Clinic Wilmington offers services Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
In addition to ABA clinic services for school-aged children, we offer social connection groups for children ages 9-12 and 13-16 in Wilmington. These groups are designed for participants who have difficulty navigating social situations and want to develop social and self-advocacy skills with the help of our clinical staff. This program is intended for individuals who can participate in group instruction without intensive or 1:1 support. The groups meet twice a week for ten weeks.
Groups are led by our licensed clinical professionals who work to create an atmosphere of understanding and respect within the group as a first step to effective communication. Neurodiversity is embraced and staff serve as allies who aim first to understand the learner and help to coach and cultivate skills over time. and believe that the teacher should serve as an ally – one that aims to first understand the learner and then helps to coach and cultivate skills over time. Fees for this clinical service apply and are covered by many private health insurance plans and Medicaid; private pay is also available.
