Autistic Adults To-Do:

1) Implement post-high school plans:

  • Transition component of IEP
  • Secondary school options
  • Transition Programs (such as IGNITE)
  • Employment (What do I envision as my employment path?
  • Do I need help finding/maintaining employment?)
  • Housing (Where do I envision living? Do I have the skills to live alone? Do I need assistance with bills/daily tasks?)
  • Guardianship (Should I have a guardian? Am I able to make my own decisions regarding healthcare and needs? Do I need assistance and supports?)
  • Supports (What types of supports do I need to thrive?)
  • Social life (What do I want my social life to look like? How will I build relationships?)

2) Connect with ARS for adult resources

3) Continue to research and implement appropriate therapies depending on the adult’s needs.

4) Consider what makes a meaningful day – college, trade school, volunteering, employment, day center, clubs/interest groups.

5) Explore accommodations for employment.

6) Share our resources for parents and caregivers.
