Advocating for School Services – Understanding the IEP Process
This workshop is designed to help parents understand key elements in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process in order to best advocate for appropriate school services for their child. Strategies that promote effective advocacy and good home/school collaboration and steps to consider should any disputes arise between home and school.
Objectives:
- Provide an overview of the IEP process
- Discuss strategies for effective advocacy
- Introduce what options parents have if there is a disagreement
