Housing programs

Housing programs – Housing means having a permanent place to live in your community where you are safe and have rights and responsibilities. The kind of housing that works best for one person may be different for someone else. “Housing programs” might mean your own house, a rented home, an apartment, a group home, or a planned community where you could live alone or with others. People usually need three things for a housing program to work: services to support someone day-to-day, a permanent building (house, apartment, group home) that is kept up over time, and funding to support room and board, rent or mortgage of the unit. Advocating for housing programs means advocating for residential services, affordable housing options, and funding to support people living in housing over time.
