Programs unique to the Greensboro area include:

Supper Club
This group, for individuals ages 18 and older, provides social opportunities for adults with high-functioning Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome. Outings include restaurants, bowling, movies, on-site gatherings, and meals at the homes of other members. Supper Club meets every other Thursday evening. There is a $5 fee for each session; sessions run approximately 3-1/2 months.

Afterschool Program
Our afterschool program provides a structured environment for students ages 8-17 from 2:30-6:30 p.m. on school days. Children work on social skills in groups of five or fewer, and two community outings are offered each week. The children participate in dance classes and art projects with qualified staff. Students can also do homework and enjoy leisure time.

In the summer, this program is available Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. for about 7-8 weeks. Participants enjoy on-site and community activities.

Weekend Respite Program
The Hangout is an inclusive respite program that allows families the opportunity to enjoy some time away while their child with ASD participates in structured activities with qualified staff. Children enjoy arts & crafts, play on the Wii, and watch movies. We periodically offer special activities such as bowling outings. Snacks are provided.

The Hangout is open one Saturday night each month from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. This program, which is supported by the local chapter, accepts individuals ages 3-22 who are on the autism spectrum. Siblings are also welcome to join in on the fun! Cost: $10 per child.

The Autism Center for Life Enrichment (ACLE)
ACLE is a structured day program for adults with autism. ACLE offers instruction in all areas of daily living, art lessons, sensory stimulation experiences, relaxation techniques, recreational therapy, and other community-based opportunities.

JobTIPS Vocational Group
ASNC has received a grant that will enable us to offer JobTIPS training free of charge to a group of adults on the autism spectrum seeking to explore career opportunities and develop work skills. The group meets once a week and follows the JobTIPS curriculum developed by Do2Learn.

Participants explore and learn how their skills, personality, and interests compare with career opportunities. Members also practice key skills, including interviewing, completing an application, using key phrases, developing a resume, and maintaining employment.
