Financial Information

The Autism Society of North Carolina operates on a fiscal year of July 1 - June 30. Financial reports are reviewed by the Chief Financial Officer and the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors. Further, the organization undergoes an annual accounting audit by an outside auditor as well as periodic reviews by government agencies.

The 2014-2015 annual operating budget was just over $18,900,000. Expenses by percentage include:

  • Programs - 89%
  • Administration - 8%
  • Fundraising - 3%

Revenues for the organization come from a variety of sources including Medicaid reimbursable services, contracts with the state of North Carolina, grants, donations, corporate sponsorships, special events and fundraisers, and sales of autism books and merchandise. For 2014-2015 revenues by percentage were:

  • Program Activities - 73%
  • State Contract - 16%
  • Donations, Sponsorships, and Grants - 10%
  • Books, Merchandise and Other - 1%

We strive to focus resources on carrying out our mission. For every dollar raised, $ .89 go to funding services that support individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.
