Location - Asheville
Job Title - Community Services Instructor (part-time)
Minimum Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma, at least one year of college preferred
  • Experience teaching or working with people with disabilities
  • Ability to understand autism and treatment methods

Responsible to: Community Services Coordinator

General Responsibilities - To provide 1:1 instruction, support and supervision to participants with autism in the Asheville area. Hours vary, but include afternoons, evenings, and some weekends.

Location - Fayetteville
Job Title - Day Program Director (full time)
Minimum Qualifications

  • 4 year degree in human services (psychology, social work, sociology, or related human services field)
  • 2 years of post degree experience (preferrably some vocational experience)
  • Experience teaching or working with people with disabilities preferred
  • Ability to understand autism and treatment methods

Location - Fayetteville
Job Title - Residential Coordinator (full time)
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must hold at least a Baccalaureate degree in a discipline related to developmental disabilities, and have at least one year of supervised habilitative experience in working with persons with mental retardation or developmental disabilities, or the individual must hold at least a Baccalaureate degree in a discipline related to human services, and have at least two years of supervised habilitative experience in working with persons with mental retardation or developmental disabilities, or hold a Baccalaureate degree in a field other than one related to developmental disabilities, and have at least three years of supervised experience working with persons with mental retardation or developmental disabilities.
  • An aptitude for learning supervisory and administrative responsibilities

Responsible to: Regional Services Director or Director of Services

General Responsibilities:

  • To collaborate with all relevant parties in the coordination and provision of community- based services to children and adults with autism

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Residential services with other staff of ASNC, contracted Mental Health Center staff, parents of particants, TEACCH, and other agencies
  • Monitor services which may involve participant instruction in areas including, but not limited to, residential, vocational, recreational, and other types of community integration
  • Assure that services and policies comply with all regulations and requirements
  • Hire, train, and supervise instructors and other direct support staff
  • Twenty-five percent of hours worked per week will be devoted to one-on-one direct care support.
  • Coordinate educational experiences to prepare the instructors/staff and provide support and supervision on a continuing basis
  • Monitor instructors' timesheets and progress notes, assuring that the services delivered are documented properly and meet billing requirements
  • Coordinate with the Director of Human Resources (regarding employment, compensation, payroll, etc.), with the Director of Operations (regarding billing, reimbursement, etc.), and with the Community Services Administrator (regarding documentation, training, and CAP changes) 
  • Maintain participant and staff files containing documentation of direct contact, correspondence, telephone conversations, and other communication
  • Make presentations to educate potential employees, parents, and the public about autism and related services
  • Participate in Autism Society events such as mini-conferences, annual conferences, etc.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks in support of services provided by ASNC

Job Title - Community Skills Instructor (part-time)
Minimum Qualifications

Responsible to: Community Services Coordinator

General Responsibilities - To provide 1:1 instruction, support and supervision to participants with autism in the Greensboro and Asheboro area to teach appropriate skills and behaviors for maximum involvement and success in their home and community.

Location - Raleigh, Community Services Program

Job Title - Regional Services Director (full time)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with five years experience with autism/developmental disabilities or Master's degree with two years of such experience
  • Three or more years experience providing direct supervision of staff
  • Two or more years experience working with professional agencies

Responsible To: Director of Services

General Responsibilities: - To supervise and administer community services, supports, and programs within a designated region of the state

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of new service programs, new residential options, day programs, etc. with parents and other professionals
  • Administer and coordinate the service programs under his/her direction in collaboration with the Director Services
  • Employ, train, and supervise Community Service Coordinators, C. S. Supervisors, and other staff managing these programs and services
  • Provide quarterly reports for the Director of Quality Assurance.
  • Coordinate with the Human Resources Manager (regarding employment, compensation, payroll, etc.), with the Director of Operations (regarding billing, reimbursement, etc.), and with Director of Quality Assurance (regarding documentation, training, and CAP changes) 
  • Assist with budget preparation of programs and monitor financial matters accordingly
  • Develop and maintain relationships with area Mental Health Centers, TEACCH Centers, other agencies, as well as local units
  • Serve on appropriate committees with other staff and parents to develop and support services and programs
  • Provide reports for keeping the Society's Board of Directors and the general membership apprised of progress and activities of the Society
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures, manuals, forms, etc.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local units, Division TEACCH, area Mental Health Centers, and other agencies
  • Enforce policies and procedures necessary for the effective management of the Society
  • Shared on-call responsibilities to handle emergency situations
  • Perform all other duties requested by the Director Services and the Society's Board of Directors

General Description - The Autism Society of NC's Gait Way program is currently looking for full time staff to help support participants in a residential setting in Chapel Hill.

Experience with supporting people with autism  is a plus. Full benefits package offered. Flexible scheduling, but overnights  and weekend hours required.
